I just did the exact same copy between drives to get all the stuff off my old 30GB onto my new 80GB. It is faster than ethernet but only marginally (twice to be precise) since the empeg can't DMA to the drives.

I see about 700kB/sec over ethernet and I timed my drive to drive copy a few times and it worked out be exactly 1.4MB/sec every time.
