Mmmm.. there's nothing technically wrong with doing the fsck on a live READONLY filesystem, at least not in most versions of the kernel (think.. root filesystem check at boot time.. it's always mounted RO at the time).

If that's all that's wrong, we could just intercept "oldumount()" in-kernel, verify it's coming from the player binary, and then just ignore it (or replace it with a mount READ-ONLY).
