Thank you transaafl. I had actually checked that FAQ. Well, I have this error:

EXT2-fs warning: checktime reached, running e2fsck is recommended

which seems very similar to this one mentioned in the faq:

Unfortunately, it does not seem to go away after next resync. Every resync it needs a drive check.

Should I proceed with

umount /dev/hdc4
swapon /swapfile
fsck -fay /
fsck -fay /dev/hda4
fsck -fay /dev/hdc4
swapoff /swapfile
sync


all the same?
