That's like my ability to tell what connection speed I'll get out of my modem from the 'pling.pling' noises it makes.

I haven't mastered that yet; I'm still learning the V.90 connect sequence. It goes through the usual connect jumble and then gets this clear part, which gradually increases in pitch (like phase distortion getting narrower) but I can't pick it yet.

It's still geeky though.
