The problem with that being that they're changing from MPEG2 to MPEG4 encoding and the HDDIrecTiVo won't support MPEG4. So, at some point, it won't work anymore. Hopefully that'll be more than a year and a half, but, even so, when it does, you'll need to get whatever the new thing is.

I'm hoping that they get out an HD CableCard TiVo and service in my area before I am forced to find something new.


When the MPEG2 stream goes away, and I have no TiVo option for DirecTV, I'm f-ed. I am trying to decide on what method to use - hanging by rope, tall building, drugs, the garden hose in the tailpipe, or shotgun.
