Streming media to the box is coming with Intel Viiv-enabled PCs (whatever that means).

The box has two SATA ports on-board. One is hooked up to the stock hard drive, and one is hooked up to an eSATA port on the back. The one hooked up to eSATA is currently disabled. If you open the box, you could switch the active port on the motherboard to hook up to the eSATA port. Since the hard drive will rebuild when you turn it on for the first time, you can just get an external eSATA enclosure. This way, your shows are being stored on a hard drive that's easily portable. I don't know how you can read the contents, but that's a possible option for the future.

The box also has ethernet and two USB ports. Those could be extraction options in the future as well.

I still have an SD DirecTivo in the living room to handle HMO.
