I do have a couple of spare Rio Car units, which I bought specifically for part situations like this, so I could do a mainboard swap for my "friend" if necessary. I'm hoping it won't come to that.

In the meantime, on your copy of the BlueGiga development board, what does your continuity tester say for continuity between the SCK pin on the BlueGiga chip and the 3v rail? The 3v rail is the upper-left-most pin on the dev board, and you know where the SCK pin is. Since you have a working undamaged board+chip, I'm wondering if you see the same continuity between those as I do. If not, then I know that it's that part of my BlueGiga chip that's fried.
