Mmm.. interesting thought. Would need the schematic for the Arduino board to know if Vin is any different from 5V on the USB connector.

Note that you can supply 12V to Vin if you want. The regulator on the Arduino board will get warmer as a consequence. I think we covered this earlier in the thread though.
