So then like this?

Code:

Before:

    ARDUINO RX2-----------------------------WT32i Tx

    ARDUINO TX2-----VVVVV----+----VVVVV-----GND
                   10Kohm | 10Kohm
                             |
                             +--------------WT32i Rx

After:

    ARDUINO RX2--------------+----VVVVV-----5v
                             | 2Kohm
                             |
                             +--------------WT32i Tx

    ARDUINO TX2-----VVVVV----+----VVVVV-----GND
                   10Kohm | 10Kohm
                             |
                             +--------------WT32i Rx

Does this pose any sort of risk to the WT32i chip? I only just got my replacement chip working so I am afraid I'll fry it again if I get this wrong. On the other hand, I want a reliable system that I can make in kit form for other Empeg users, so I'm interested in making sure this works right, and until I solve this serial port problem it's not really kit-able.

The amount of garbage I'm seeing on those serial ports is very small and intermittent, so I think I would only need a very small amount of pullup current. Should I first try a 5k pullup for an even smaller amount of pullup current?
